How will this affect the importer? Below are the upcoming changes:
- U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) ports may commence issuing LD without headquarters review and approval.
- Ports are no longer required to issue three warnings before assessing LD.
- Craig Clark is replaced by Peyman Jamshidi as Program Manager, Cargo and Conveyance Security, Office of Field Operations, CBP.
Certain topics such as the future of the ISF-5 filings, full vessel departure reporting, and publication of a final rule remain unresolved.
CBP conducted a Webinar last week as a last educational outreach on the ISF Enforcement and has published it to their website for all to view. You can access this webinar by clicking here. We encourage all importers to watch the CBP’s Webinar.
