This winter exporters and importers were faced with many challenges at the terminals along the North East and Mid West locations. With the extreme backlogs at the terminals and rail yards along with the issues with driver unavailability with the trucking companies, for weeks it looked like no end to the delays was in sight. As it has been months since the winter storms have passed, order seems to be restored at most terminals and rail yards. The terminals offered extended hours which enabled them to alleviate the backlog in fewer weeks than anticipated. Truckers exhibitmore control now and requests for pickups are not required at least 2 weeks in advance. Though all seems to be returning to order, we are still faced with equipment shortages and vessel space. We do suggest to book your cargo in advance to avoid these delays.
